Recent events of espionage attempts, the “sovereign citizen” ideology, and extremists who spread fear and hatred in rallies all reflect the evil spirit’s work of sowing division. In this Sunday’s Gospel, Jesus challenges us to relinquish attachments and take up our cross. We must stay awake and attentive, actively discerning what leads to life and unity while rejecting conspiracy, fear, and hatred.
