On May 4, 1904, Charles Rolls and Henry Royce met in Manchester and decided to go into business together to produce vehicles and engines for use on land, sea and air. Thus, the Rolls Royce company came into existence. Royce was an engineer and Rolls was a salesman. The company philosophy was “take the best that exists and make it better”. Rolls Royce still produces a range of luxury cars as well as engines for planes and ships.
Loving God we give thanks for those meetings where people who are very different come together and produce something special.
We pray for those who are joining forces in our time to create new modes of transport that do not use fossil fuels and so have less of a negative impact on the planet..
