Daily Prayer - March 10 2023

Aung San Suu Kyi was elected leader of the National League for Democracy in Burma on this day in 2013. Her party went on to record election victories in 2015 and again in 2020 giving hope that Burma was on the way to real change after many years of military rule. However, a military coup in 2021 removed Suu Kyi from office and she was arrested and charged with a variety of offenses.  Protests against the coup continue bringing deadly conflict to some areas of what is now know as Myanmar.

Loving God,

we pray for the people of Myanmar.

We ask that there may be a change of heart for the military rulers and that there may be a return to a more democratic system.

We pray also for the Columbans who are working in Myanmar.

We pray also for all our benefactors who are supporting their work and that of the Columbans in other parts of the world.

Amen
