On January 27, 1973, the Paris Peace Accord on Ending the War and Restoring Peace in Vietnam was signed by representatives of the South Vietnamese communist forces, North Vietnam, South Vietnam, and the United States. A cease-fire would go into effect the following morning throughout North and South Vietnam, and within 60 days all U.S. forces would be withdrawn.
Fighting between North and South Vietnam continued until April 1975. It is estimated that more than 3 million people died during this conflict.
Loving God,
we pray for the people of Vietnam who endured a long period of conflict.
We pray for all the boat people who left Vietnam to start new lives elsewhere.
We pray especially for our two Vietnamese Columbans Xuan Tien Nguyen in Japan and Van Hung Nguyen in
Taiwan.
