A patent for an electric dental drill was granted to George Green on this day in 1875. Many people dislike going to the dentist and the sound of the drill is one of the off-putting parts of the process.
However, we have come to understand the importance of good oral health not just for our teeth and gums but for our general wellbeing. Developments in technology mean that dental visits are less of an ordeal.
