Daily Prayer - January 25 2023

The city of Sao Paulo in Brazil was founded on this day in 1554 by Jesuits missionaries. The city was named after St. Paul as the 25th of January marks the feast that celebrates his conversion. The city’s growth and development was linked in the 19th century to the emergence of coffee as a key export. The population of the greater Sao Paulo area in 2023 is given as more than 24 million people making it the most populous city in South America.

Loving God

we ask your blessings on the people of Brazil.

At present in transition to a new president we ask that the unrest that followed the change in government may be resolved.

We pray that its people come together to address shared issues and especially the protection of the Amazon rainforest.

Amen
