Daily Prayer - January 18 2023

A report published by Oxfam on January 18, 2016 entitled The Economy of the 1% revealed that the 62 richest individuals have a degree of wealth equal to that held by 50% of the world’s population. As a prioriy Oxfam called for an end to tax havens and offshore centres used by rich individuals and companies to avoid paying their fair share of taxes. This has denied governments the resources that could be used to tackle poverty and inequality.

Since 2020, the richest 1% of people have accumulated close to two-thirds of all new wealth created around the world, according to an Oxfam report published on 16 January 2023.

 Loving God

the gap continues to grow in our world between the haves and the have nots.

We ask that we may heed reports like this one from Oxfam and search for ways to redistribute the wealth of the world in way that helps those who are most in need.

Amen
