The landmark natural history series Life on Earth was first aired on BBC 1 on 16 January 1979. The series was written and presented by David Attenborough. The series took 3 years to make and took Attenborough all over the world. Many creatures and behaviours were captured on film for the first time.
Life on Earth provided the template for several more Attenborough series exploring areas like forests, desserts, oceans grasslands, as well as delving into the secret life of plants, birds and many species of animals.

we give thanks for the beauty and wonder of life on our planet.
We are grateful for people like David Attenborough who have a passion for nature and for the ways they have helped us to know and understand at a deeper level just how the world works and what we must do protect all life on earth.
