Daily Prayer - February 24 2023

One year ago today President Putin of Russia sent his troops across the border into Ukraine. He initiated a war that has resulted in thousands of deaths on both sides, millions of Ukrainians displaced, massive damage to infrastructure and a world economy left struggling.  There is no sign that the war is likely to end soon. There is a stark contrast between the narrative presented by Putin to describe what is happening and what we understand in the West.

Loving God,

we pray once again for an end to the war in Ukraine.

As we enter the season of Lent, which calls for a conversion of heart, we ask that we might see such change in our world and especially in its leaders.

We ask that mercy and compassion might become central values governing their decisions and actions.

Amen
