The arrival of US President Richard Nixon in China on February 21, 1972 was to lead to a thaw in frosty relations between the USA and China that had lasted for 20 years. His diplomatic mission was both symbolic and substantive and lead to the publication of the Shanghai Communique. We are again at a stage where relations between the USA and China are tense because of China’s threat to Taiwan, spy balloons over the USA and hints that China might offer military aid to Russia.
Loving God
we pray for all whose mission in this world is diplomatic and aimed at developing and promoting cooperative relations between nations.
We pray especially for those nations that have a history of tension that calm and wise heads may prevail so that peaceful agreements may be negotiated
Amen
