On February 14, 1966, Australia made the switch from pounds, shillings and pence to a decimal system. They prepared for the transition for more than 2 years and since most people were happy with the greater simplicity of the new currency the change was welcomed and the transition was smooth. New Zealand made the same switch on July 10, 1967.
Loving God,
we are grateful for changes that go smoothly and are generally accepted.
Mostly we have trouble with change even when we see that it is needed.
So we pray “God grant us the serenity to accept the things we cannot change, the courage to change the things we can, and the wisdom to know the difference.”
