On April 18, 1906 an earthquake on the San Andreas Fault with a magnitude of 7.9 was felt all along the California coast. The greatest damage was done in San Francisco. The quake ignited a huge fire that was to continue for 4 days The inferno destroyed some 28,000 buildings. In all 3000 people lost their lives. Like New Zealand San Francisco is prone to earthquakes. I was there in 1989 when the city experienced a 6.9 quake.

we pray for all in our world who have suffered because of earthquakes.
We pray especially for the people of Syria and Turkey who are still coping with the aftermath of the recent quake.
Sustain those who are trying to put their lives back together after the loss and devastation they suffered.
