A Prayer for Winter

Prayer for Winter

Loving God

As colder days and longer nights signal the arrival of winter, we pray that we may learn the lessons of this season.

It is a time when life slows down a little and many plants and trees draw their energy inside for a time, no longer producing leaves or fruit.

In our sometimes-hectic lives may this season remind us to slow down and not feel we must always be either producing or consuming.

May the animals that hibernate for the winter teach us to appreciate the importance of rest and sleep for our physical and mental wellbeing.

Help us not only to survive the winter but grow through our response to the changed rhythm of life that it invites us to embrace.

Amen
