On November 26, 2012, 10 children were killed on a playground in the village of Deir Al Safir, in Syria. Local activists said they were the victims of a cluster bomb dropped by a Syrian jet fighter. The Syrian government denies even having cluster bombs and also denied using chemical weapons.
Human Rights Watch claims that Syria has used cluster bomb more than a dozen times and in 2012 in the town of Marea two New York Times journalists witnessed the aftermath of such a bombing. The nerve gas sarin is believed to be behind the attack that killed more than 80 people in Syria’s Idlib province in April 2017.
God it is said that the truth is one of the first causalities of war.
We pray for an end to indiscriminate attacks on civilians and especially children of the kind that are happening in Ukraine at the moment.
