Daily Prayer - November 23, 2022

November 23 is the feast day of our patron St. Columban. It is also the date on which the new region of Oceania, which includes Australia, Fiji and New Zealand, was established in 2019. On this day a new team will take over leadership of the region hoping to carry forward the practical directions that surfaced during the Columban synod held last week on zoom.

We recognised that we are not the Society we used to be and some things have been lost. But we also acknowledged that we have also found much that is new especially new partnerships within the Society with people who share a missionary vocation and outside the Society with people who have common interests and concerns.

Loving God,

we thank you for the life of St Columban who took the gospel message back to Europe in dark times.

We ask your blessing on the Society that bears his name.

Living also in dark times we pray that the spirit that led him from Ireland and across Europe to Bobbio may guide us as we  seek to take the gospel message to our world.

Amen
