Daily Prayer - November 11, 2022

At 11.am on the 11th day of the 11th month in 1918, the armistice signed by the Allies and Germany came into effect. It marked the end of WW1. In the four years that the war raged it is estimated that close to 19m people died and a further 23m. people were injured.

Celebrations to mark the end of hostilities were muted by the impact of the flu epidemic of 1918 which was to kill many millions more people around the world. November 11 is a day of remembrance for all who died in WW1 and other wars.

Loving God,

as we remember the tragic numbers of people who died or were wounded during WWI, we give thanks for the ending of that war.

We pray for peace in our world at a time when a number of wars are being fought in different part of the world while other are suffering because of conflict within countries

Amen
