Daily Prayer - May 31, 2022

On May 31, 70AD the Roman siege of Jerusalem breached the first of the 3 walls protecting the city.

The siege lasted 5 months before the Romans took the entire city and destroyed it. They also destroyed the temple leaving only the Western wall.

Jewish faith had to redefine itself in the absence of the temple which was the focal point for much of its life and worship.

Lord,

Jewish believers have survived many tragedies including the destruction of Jerusalem and the temple for the second time.

We pray for Jerusalem which is of great significance not only to the Jewish faith but also to Christians and Muslims

We ask that these great Abrahamic faiths may come to a greater understanding and acceptance of each other so that Jerusalem may again be a place of peace.

Amen
