Daily Prayer - May 3, 2022

May 3, 2022

Being a journalist these days is a dangerous occupation.

Because they throw light on the important issues of our day, exposing what some would like to keep hidden, they find themselves more than ever under siege.

In many countries the press is tightly controlled, and all dissenting voices are silenced.

World Press Freedom Day, celebrated on May 3, was established to remind us of the importance of independent, trustworthy, and truthful reporting.

It celebrates those who help to provide us with that information.

Lord,

Jesus spoke about those who prefer concealing darkness to revealing light because their deeds are evil.

We pray for journalists who seek to expose the truth about what is happening in our world.

We remember those who have paid a heavy price for their work.

In a world of misinformation and alternative facts we ask that you give journalists insight, integrity, courage, and perseverance that they may continue to do this important work.

Amen
