Daily Prayer - May 28, 2022

Amnesty International was founded following the publication of the article "The Forgotten Prisoners" in The Observer on 28 May 1961, by the lawyer Peter Benenson.

The one-year campaign for prisoners of conscience that he advocated grew to become an international movement that speaks for anyone and everyone whose freedom and dignity are under threat.

It holds that “No government is beyond scrutiny /no situation beyond hope”.

Lord,

we pray for all prisoners of conscience.

We pray especially for those in countries where they may have to wait for long period for a trial to be held and then face a system that is very much against them.

We pray in thanksgiving for all the good work done by Amnesty International.

We ask your blessing on school students whose interest in matters of justice is often nurtured and give an outlet by Amnesty International.

Amen
