May 24 is the anniversary of the publishing in 2015 of the Pope Francis’ Encyclical Laudato Si - On care for Our Common Home.
It recognises that climate change is real and urgent and that we inflict harm on the planet when our attitude is that of masters, consumers and ruthless exploiters.
He says that “if we feel intimately united with all that exists, then sobriety and care will well up spontaneously” (§11).
Lord,
we pray that the call of Laudato Si for swift and unified global action to care for our common home will be heeded.
Help all Christians to work with others who share our concerns for what is happening to the earth.
We pray that those, especially governments and major companies, who have pledged to make changes will follow through on their promises
