Daily Prayer - May 23, 2022

On May 23, 1951, a seventeen-point agreement was signed between China and Tibet, China spoke of this event as the peaceful liberation of Tibet while authorities in Tibet described it as an invasion.

Pro-independence protests in Tibet in 1987 lead to a clamp down on religious and cultural freedom.

This along with a large influx of Han Chinese into Tibet has made it increasingly difficulty to preserve its unique culture, language, religion (Buddhism) and customs.

Lord,

we pray for the people of Tibet.

We ask that the Chinese government respect the rights and freedoms of its people.

We pray for other religious groups and minority communities within China which are also tightly controlled.

We ask your blessing on all who hold and practice the Buddhist faith.

Amen
