Daily Prayer - June 6, 2022

On June 6, 1944, a decisive event that would eventually lead to victory in WWII took place.

The Allied forces landed 150,000 mainly American, British and Canadian troops on the beaches of Normandy in the D-Day invasion.

Another 13000 paratroopers were also involved. By the end of June 850,000 troops were pushing the Germans out of France. Paris was liberated on August 25, 1944.

Lord,

faced with the evil that Nazi Germany represented the Allies went to war.

We pray for all those who died, were injured or went missing as the events of D-Day unfolded.

We ask that those who seek power and glory by attacking and subjecting their neighbours and even their own citizens would have a change of heart.

We ask that we might find peaceful ways to resolve our conflicts.

Amen
