Daily Prayer - June 30, 2022

On June 30, 1908, an event that has puzzled scientists for more than a century happen in a remote part of Siberia. It is referred to as the Tunguska event. Millions of trees were completely flattened over a wide area (2000 square kilometres) but no crater was found nor were any pieces of rock that would suggest that something had crashed to earth.

The heat and light from the explosion were felt up to 35 kilometres away. It is believed that an asteroid or comet exploded 5-10 kilometres above the earth with a force 1000 times stronger that the explosion at Hiroshima

Lord,

we live in a universe where objects of all kinds are moving around at great speed.

Collisions between some of these objects and earth have happened like the one 65 million years ago that wiped out the dinosaurs.

We are often anxious about such possibilities but we ask that your Son might help us to find an inner calm that will help us ride out all the storms that life can send our way.

Amen
