Daily Prayer - June 16, 2022

On June 16, 2019, a massive power cut left almost all of Argentina and Uruguay without power.

The countries have a combined population of almost 50 m people. Argentina was having local elections on that day.

It was the first time a failure of the system at this level had happened and it was described as unprecedented.

The power was restored to most areas within a few hours but for those hours almost everything came to a standstill.

Lord,

our lives are very dependent on electricity.

At a time when the demands on the grid are increasing as are energy costs, we pray that the system will continue to work.

We pray for the continued development of sustainable and renewable energy sources.

We ask that costs may be kept reasonable so that poorer people do not miss out on essentails.

Amen
