On June 13, 2000, South Korean President Kim Dae-Jung travelled to North Korea for a Summit Meeting with Kim Jong Il. It was the first such meeting between leaders of the two countries since the Korean war.
Following what was termed the Sunshine Policy, South Kores was seeking to improve relations with the North and take a small step towards the possible re-unification of Korea.
Today relations are strained in part because North Korea has again been testing ballistic missiles and continues is nuclear program.
we pray for Korea, North and South and for peaceful relations between them.
We ask a blessing on those who are working for reconciliation and a healing of the wounds and divisions of the past.
We pray for the people of North Korea. Limited information comes out of the country but there have been hints of widespread poverty and hunger and now an outbreak of COVID in a largely unvaccinated country.
