Daily Prayer - December 15, 2022

Mystery surrounds the death of big band leader Glenn Miller on December 15, 1944. He was on a flight from England to Paris when his plane disappeared over the English Channel. He was just 40 at the time and an officer in the US armed forces.

Although there are various theories about what happened to him, no satisfactory explanation has yet been found for his disappearance. His tune In the Mood is regarded as a classic example of Big Band music.

Loving God

as we remember the death of Glenn Miller, we give thanks for the gift of music and for those whose talent for it have left us a rich legacy.

We are especially grateful for the way that music evokes memories.

A tune can take us back to a specific time and place in our lives with great vividness and bring the  past to life again.

Amen
