Daily Prayer - December 12, 2022

On this day in 1959 the UN set up a Commission for the Peaceful Use of Outer Space. This followed the launch of the first satellite in 1957 and the start of the space race.  The commission was to establish the principles that would govern international cooperation and have oversight of areas around peace, security and development in space.

Today 14 nations have the ability to launch an object into space and in all 72 counties have space programs. In September 2021 one company, SpaceX, launched 51 satellites so space has become extremely crowded.

Creator God

we have reached the stage where people are seriously considering the possibility of living on Mars.

We ask that we might be more aware of the beautiful and fertile planet where we live and rededicate ourselves to its care and use the resources available to do this.

Amen
