Daily Prayer - August 30, 2022

Musician and MP Bobi Wine (Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu) was rearrested at the airport in Entebbe, Uganda, as he tried to travel abroad for medical treatment. Pockets of protests broke out as angry youths took to the streets to protest the MP's arrest. Bobi Wine is the leader of a youth movement that has rattled the regime of President Yoweri Museveni.

Musicians around the world have joined the campaign to FreeBobiWine. Uganda is just one of many countries that seem determined to outlaw or eliminate any form of opposition.

Loving God,

as we pray for the people of Uganda, we ask that there be room for dissident voices there and in other places where there is one man/one party rule.

We ask especially that the voices of the poor and most vulnerable people will be heard, and action taken to address their needs.

We ask a blessing on the prophets of our times who are trying to alert us to what is really happening in our world.

Amen
