There was an item included in the events that happened on this day that was both surprising and shocking to me.
In 2019 a report by the Cornell Lab of Ornithology found that some 600 million birds die each year in the USA as a result of collisions with tall buildings.
It seems to be an issue especially for migrating birds as many of these collisions happen at night when lights in these building confuse and disorient the birds.
Lord,
we are aware of many of the factors that are impact on other species but some, like the impact of tall building on birds, can escape our notice.
Help us to be more conscious of how we impact the lives of other species.
May we set limits to the spaces we occupy so as to leave sufficient habitat for other species to survive.
