There seems to be a link between this date and volcanos.
In 1815 Mt. Tambora in present day Indonesia experienced a massive eruption having been dormant for centuries.
It is described as the most powerful volcanic eruption ever recorded.
There were volcanic eruptions on this date also in 1906 (Mt Vesuvius) and again in 1971 (Mt Etna in Sicily).
Lord,
we have recently witnessed the devastating effect of a massive volcanic eruption in Tonga.
So, we ask you to bless the people of Tonga and all those whose lives are lived in the shadow of volcanos.
They remind us that our planet is in an ongoing process of formation.
We ask that you keep us safe when volcanos erupt and the earth shakes.
