World Day for Health and Safety at work is celebrated annually on April 28.
The aim of this day is to promote a positive health and safety culture in all workplaces.
Statistics NZ figures suggest that agriculture, forestry, fishing, manufacturing and construction are areas of greatest risk.
But it is important that awareness and dialogue about health and safety be promoted everywhere.
Lord,
we are grateful for all the measures that have been taken to protect the health and safety of people at work.
Enquiries into past tragedies have much to teach us so we pray that action be taken on the recommendations that have resulted.
We pray for all who have lost loved ones in such accidents and pray especially for the two port workers who died recently.
