21st Century Slavery Prayer

Leader
Let us pray …
Loving God, we ask your justice, mercy, compassion, comfort and freedom for the millions affected by human trafficking in our world today.

All: God of all that is good, give freedom to the captives and restore justice to your world.

Leader
We pray for the men, women and children, enslaved by fear, torture, dependency, entrapment and bonded labour.
All: God of all that is good, give freedom to the captives and restore justice to your world.

Leader
We pray for the victims of trafficking that they may be comforted, healed of their hurts and restored to hope.
All: God of all that is good, give freedom to the captives and restore justice to your world.

Leader
May we be strengthened to face the structures that trap people, be unified in our approach, and be faithful to our call to bring justice to all people.
All: God of all that is good, give freedom to the captives and restore justice to your world.

A few moments for reflection
We ask: What can we do in the face of such suffering?
We ask: What is there that we would not do?

We pray together…
Born of a Hebrew Mother
Exiled to live with the Egyptians
Rejoicing in the faith of a Syrian Woman and a Roman Soldier
Calling both Greek and Jew to discipleship
Allowing an African to carry your cross, a Roman Woman to bathe your face,
a stranger-thief to join you in heaven
Christ of all teach us to build the Kingdom for all your people. Amen
